Panda ActiveScan is an Antivirus Online Scanner for Windows Computers with Internet Explorer support by Publisher Panda Security.

Product summary of Panda Activescan

Many people have experienced the adverse effects of computer viruses. Files are duplicated, email is spammed with unfamiliar messages and attachments and, worst of all, even identity and personal data theft can happen to you. Though there are many ways to avoid having your computer hacked into, not all of these are that effective and as thorough as Internet-based virus scanning courtesy of Panda ActiveScan. Not only will you be able to detect that feisty trojan, but you'll also be able to do so in the least time possible (notwithstanding of course, your Internet connection speeds). With the Panda ActiveScan, you'll be able to clean up your hard drive.

The NanoScan & TotalScan Technology

In the past, Panda Security enabled users to scan their computers with the NanoScan. The NanoScan did a good job of locating bugs such as trojans, viruses, malware, and others that may plague your computer. Once one of these are detected by the NanoScan, another kind of scanner steps in to do the heavier work. The TotalScan then took care of whatever it was that was bugging your computer. In 2008, however, Panda decided to come up with a kind of scanner that combined the benefits culled from the NanoScan and the TotalScan and came up with the web-based Panda ActiveScan.

Features of Panda Activescan

There's a lot of things to be expected from the Panda ActiveScan. Not only will you be able to find bugs and remedy the damage that they've caused, but this scanner can also detect ongoing processes that will eventually take root and do more damage to your computer. Here are some of the prominent features of the Panda ActiveScan:

Panda Activescan being Internet-based

Panda ActiveScan is Internet-based, meaning you can download and even run the program from the Internet. Panda ActiveScan can be a plug-in for Firefox Mozilla or an ActiveX Control when used with Internet Explorer. One can have the whole unit scanned in as short as a few minutes, keeping those check ups quick and easily done with.

Panda Activescan being Free

The Panda ActiveScan is also a free service that one can just get from the official website. Though registration is needed in order to get rid of the malware, registration is free and relatively easy. Still, you need to subscribe if you want full removal of detected computer threats.

Panda Activescan with Genetic Heuristics Engine

One of the most powerful tool used by the Panda ActiveScan is the Genetic Heuristics Engine. This is a kind of program that makes use of heuristics to capture and prevent cyber crimes such as identity theft. Trojans and other malware that steal identity and other information can be easily dealt with by using the Panda ActiveScan.

Panda Activescan anti-rootkit

Ever had those rootkits that just evade all anti-virus software? Well, they better be afraid of the Panda ActiveScan because of its built-in Panda anti-rootkit feature. This feature of the Panda ActiveScan searches for rootkits from the deepest recesses of your harddrive to expose its obscurity.

Panda Activescan Checks Windows' Security Center

The Panda ActiveScan is like a true friend who checks on you right after you come home. Aside from providing anti-virus and troubleshooting services, the Panda ActiveScan also updates your Windows' Security Center to check if it has the latest versions or updates. This show of concern is one of the best features of the Internet-based scanner, Panda ActiveScan.

I use Panda ActiveScan as a backup when I think my primary antivirus may have failed. I first came across this service a few years ago when a friend recommended that I use it after my computer started acting up.

I started Panda ActiveScan and sure enough it found and removed several threats. I think that it is great that the software was free but actually did a better job than my paid for antivirus software. The process did not take long either and it was not processor intensive so I was still able to do other things while the scan ran.

I think that everyone should use Panda’s Active Scan, especially if you think your computer might have a virus already because it will definitely find it!
