Through the years, I've tried a lot of anti-virus programs, both free and paid. None of them are perfect, so if you think you'll ever find one that will protect you 100%, think again. Microsoft Security Essentials is the closest I've ever come to complete protection, though. I'm not a huge fan of Microsoft, so I was very skeptical of this when it came out, but I figured, it's free so why not? I'm happy to say that this is the best product Microsoft has ever come out with and I would cheerfully pay for it if they decided to charge tomorrow. It's the only anti-virus I've ever used that didn't slow my system down at all - even when running a full scan. It's updated constantly, too, so they do a good job of keeping up with the new junk that comes out. If you run a Windows machine, you're entitled to get this software for free. Give it a try for a month and I guarantee you'll love it.d

Microsoft Security Essentials was installed on one of my computers when I had taken it to a tech shop for repair. The technician informed me that MSE is one of the best free antivirus software around and it's created by Microsoft so, it works well. However, my friend told me that it provides only basic protection and I should go for a paid security software. So far my computer is free from any infection but I would upgrade to a paid one when I have more funds.

Its interface is simple to use and you can select from options like Quick, Full or Custom scan. The Green color indicates that the program is running fine. You can also schedule a scan that and it will automatically do it at your preferred time.
