If you are looking for one of the weirdest stories to hit online video games, you only need to search for “Reykjavik Harbor.” This harbor in Iceland’s capital city will be the site of a huge 16 foot monument to one of the biggest online spacecraft role playing game battles in Eve Online’s history – the bloodbath of B-R5RB. This is one serious game that impacted a massive portion of the online population. The monument will include a time capsule with aluminum and granite components. It looks fairly sleek and very modernistic. In fact, the aluminum shining slab in the middle reminds me of the Obelisk at the opening sequence of the 2001 Space Odyssey. This is definitely as futuristic as it gets when it comes to monuments. Designed by artist Sigurour Guomundsson, the monument is a testimony to the fact that the lines between the virtual and real world has been blurred. Thanks to a massive game event like the bloodbath of the B-R5RB.
