One of the most amazing things about the internet is that it has a lot of stories that truly captured the romance of entrepreneuralism in America. Imagine a one man operation where a person has a vision of particular mobile app. This person works day and night trying to build this app. Maybe even gives up at the age of gusting to death and really just focuses his energy into this app to make the app popular. He sells it for $1 and then low and behold and into his utter amazement, the app sells really well, not just in the United States, but in many other countries.
In fact, it does so well that Apple itself steps in and buys out the app and takes the app on the Apple app store. Why? Apple will integrate the apps technology into Apple’s basic software. Sounds like a pipe dream? Yes again. This is exactly what happened with SnappyCam. This is an app produced by a one man company (Imagine that?) founded by John Papandriopoulos. This Australian company was bought out, according to the founder, by none other than Apple computers. If true, this is going to be very huge. If anything, it shows that Apple is really serious about full resolution image using the iPhone. The SnappyCam is capable of taking a full resolution photos at 20-30 frames per second. This is a big improvement on the typical photo apps for the iPhone.
The other reason why this story is big is that, it once again reiterates the power of one man’s vision and how hard work, dedication and just focus on excellence can result in a big pay day down the road. Although I’m sure the real success in this story is not so much than Mr. Papandriopoulos is gonna walk away with a lot more money that it started with, but the fact that he was able to take a personal passion and turned it into a reality that benefited many people and then have a huge company validate that dream and purchasing it is amazing and definitely inspiring.
