Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6.4 Is Finally Out

Apple has been working hard as ever with pre-orders for Mac Mini and the new iPhone and, now, the much awaited release of Mac OS X 10.6.4.  The most recent update to the Snow Leopard OS boasts of a good number of enhancements for stability with some fixes for security issues.  On a more detailed note, Apple brings to light three different updates with Mac OS X 10.6.4.

This is great news especially to those who are using Mac Minis with 10.6.4 updates Mac OS X Server and for Mac OS X.  The updated version offers better compatibility and performance for issues pertaining to graphics and SDXC memory cards with larger format.

More updates for Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6.4

For general fixes and improvements, the Mac OS X 10.6.4 is expected to bring enhanced compatibility with Braile displays.  Does your keyboard or trackpad suddenly become idle or inactive?  Or, do you have issues with the display sleep or perhaps the speaker volume when using your MacBook Pro?  No need to worry as much as before now that there are recommended fixes for these problems.  Not only that, the 10.6.4 also ensures VPN connections that are more reliable and gives you an easier time renaming, deleting, or copying files on SMB servers.  The best part is that the newly released Safari 5 is part of it.

Another type of update offered by Mac OS X 10.6.4 focuses on some improvements for Aperture 3.  This includes the digital cameras’ tethered shooting support, while compatibility issues with IPTC metadata can also be fixed.  As for external devices, improvements include RAW image compatibility when using additional digital cameras.  There are also fixes for problems encountered when using third-party USB webcams and for noise problems with third-party FireWire audio devices.  If you have problems with paring Apple remotes, then rest assured that the new system will address this issue.

What the Mac OS X Server 10.6.4 has to offer

Apple has also come out with Mac OS X Server 10.6.4 early this week, and the updated version is showing a lot of promise with a couple of improvements thrown into the system.  Users of Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server can truly benefit from this.  The updates include several enhancements made for the Wiki Server as well as some improvements for the Software Update Server.  The updated server has also worked on vacation mail notices that are left unnoticed for several days and also covers some improvements on VPN connections with better reliability.

The package for the 10.6.4 client and server versions also include several security patches for the benefit of Mac OS users.  This includes an improved version of the Flash Player plug-in, which addresses several issues.  There are also recommended fixes for printing problems as well as for the maliciously created media files affecting ImageIO.  As if these were not good enough, there’s also a security patch for iChat to protect against a certain vulnerability relating to arbitrary file uploads to a remote file system.  Another feature is the SquirrelMail’s updated version.

Through the Software Update, users can get access to the Mac OS X 10.6.4 and Mac OS X Server 10.6.4.  Updates are also available through the support downloads page of Apple.  You can choose between straight and combination updates.
