New and Improved Nero Vision Xtra

Nero Vision Xtra Product Summary

Nero Vision Xtra is the component for video editing and DVD writing included in the Nero 10 media suite.  The program has received a major facelift, as well as a boost in features. The suite also has audio-editing software and track mixing apps, and 34 new menu themes for those using the program for Blu-ray authoring.  The menus and multitrack video made in Vision Xtra can be viewed in any player, including Blu-Ray ones.

Nero Vision Xtra Features

The features in Nero Vision Xtra, especially pertaining to its disc burning tools are still similar as they were in the last version. A new feature in this version is the facility to make burns over multiple discs, whether they are CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. It has also adopted what most newer versions of applications have, which is a display of burn progress in the Taskbar button if you have it installed in a PC run with Windows 7. The toolbox retains the same features, with the popular Recovery tool to aid you in retrieving files that you may have accidentally deleted.

Another feature that many users find useful is the program’s SecurDisc 2.0 technology, which helps in preventing scratches and wearing in discs that can be re-recorded. This feature can also provide a password to protect discs and a digital signature to authenticate the authorship of a disc.

Nero Vision Xtra User Interface

When opening Vision Xtra, you will be prompted to make a project and choose a target, whether DVD, AVCHD, Blu-ray, CD, or video file.  You will also be asked to specify the ratio, frame rate and resolution of the video project you will be making.  You will then be shown a widescreen view of your project on the left.  If you have used prior versions of the Nero Vision, you will notice that there are now fewer icons to in the latest version, and while you had an "A" icon for text and a button with a lightning bolt for effects, the new Vision has tabs with "Text" and "Effects" labels.

Nero Vision Xtra Software Review

The media management interface of the Nero Vision Xtra has been made sleeker than before.  Aside from the looks, the multitrack video editor has also proven itself to be functional.  The installer of the software is now smaller in disc size.  For larger burn jobs, the span disc feature has been included in the latest version. The CD ripping feature still runs slower compared to competing brands.  Moreover, its background backup program makes the computer run slower.
