When I purchased my last laptop WinDVD came preinstalled on it. Since then I have not used it at all because I do not like the overall look and feel of the player. It is too small for my liking, but some people might be ok with that.
That being said, I think that WinDVD is a good basic software for someone who does not need a whole lot of options with their media player. It does what it was designed to do and it does it well. It is easy to use because there are not a whole lot of options or frills. I think the fact that the interface is set up just like a standard DVD player makes it very easy to understand.
