I am in the process of digitizing a rather extensive collection of old vinyl and WavePad is the perfect tool for the job. They offer a free version with most of the features of the paid version and that may be all you need. I have the pro version because I digitize vinyl for customers and you need the pro license in order to use the software commercially. I recommend this for several reasons. First, it does the job and does it well. Second, it's pretty easy to use without extensive training. And last but not least, it's under $100 which is an excellent price for professional audio editing programs.
