    Default Motherboard cooling !!

I was mess in with my computer the other day, like you do, when I noticed that the small heat sink on the NB for the tri-sli was a bit bent and didn't not seem to be seating perfectly. My temps are not bad, but i would rather not leave it to chance. To fix this i need to remove all the heat sinks as they are all connected by a heat pipe. This includes the mosfet cooler which I'm guessing uses some form of thermal tape to make contact. Would I be able to use thermal paste to make the contact instead, if I use the spread technic and just the right amounts?

    What motherboard are you using?

Some of them just tend to run hot - the best way to adjust temperature, is to increase case airflow, or try switching to water-cooling.

If you are running a high end CPU or Motherboard, you should probably check into water cooling. Especially if you are overclocking, or have hyper-threading enabled. The amount of airflow it would take to adequately cool a system like that makes your computer sound like a jet engine preparing for takeoff, and heatsinks and fans often just don't do the job well. Really high airflows also tend to generate a lot of dust into your interior. Good CPU's and Mobos are expensive investments, and running them hot will really shorten their lifespan. If air isn't working, water is your best option.

overclocking is fine as long as your not pushing it too far. If you are going to try taking it to the extremes I would say go for water cooling like ework stated in the above post. a friend of mine did this and it worked well. its great to be able to get rid of the constant drone of the fans. he placed a small pelter on the CPU which kept it at such a low temperature he was able to push it that little bit further. one word of warning though if you do go down these lines is beware of water!! it will destroy your pc and hardware if you dont seal all the pipes fully. If you use a pelter be sure to fully insulate it, they get so cold they can gather condensation. happy modding

The first thing you need to do is decide on a processor. Once you decide on the processor you want you can then decide what type board you want. Motherboards & processor compatability is done by socket size. Example- AMD Sempron 2800 + processor is a socket 754, so you would need to find a motherboard that supports a socket 754.

Next you will need to decide how much ram you want to buy. After choosing the motherboard you need to see what type ram it will support. * look at the spects, and then you can order the ram.
