    1x2GB RAM is better as it occupies only 1slot. 2x1GB gives same performance but occupies 2slots.

    Get 1x2GB. It's cheap(er), and opens up more slots for expansion in the future.

    I have a 1024MBx2 RAM memory because I believe that if anyone has some defect then you need to only replace only one memory stick.

    I would say 1X2 GB ram is enough.
