Strange problem with shutdown?

Hi,
All of a sudden i m facing a very strange problem with shutdown.

When i press shutdown button, windows shuts down, and moniter light goes off. but still CPU fan stays on.and i can even operate DVD drive, like open and close door.

What has happened to my Power supply unit?

I think you should not use the shut down you should use the hibernate function.The problem would be in the CPU.

As intstructed by other fellow mates, use the hibernate function that will surely fix your problem.
You can also show your sustem to technician.

Make it a habit to use Hibernate option.
But your problem cannot be overlooked. i would suggest you to bring it to the technician who may help you.

You can just check the power supply terminal from the socket to SMPS that may cause direct voltage to your system. This needs to be checked to the technician so that the future damage can be avoided.

I think your SMPS provides the supply to the other devices of your system except motherboard.
You can get this checked from a technician at the earliest.

I don't think there is any problem with your power supply system..
I guess there is some hardware problem in your system. So you can visit some computer repair center to fix this problem or you can do it on your own if you have proper knowledge of hardware..

This would be a hardware problem, and not the power supply. What happens when you turn it off at the button on the front of the case?
