Adobe Dreamweaver is an HTML Editor Software for Windows and Mac OS X and created by Publisher Adobe Systems Incorporated.

Product summary of Adobe Dreamweaver

Adobe Dreamweaver is a web development application that is now owned by Adobe Systems. Dreamweaver can be used on both Windows and Mac operating systems. The latest versions of this software have also incorporated support for various web technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, and different server-side frameworks and scripting languages such as ColdFusion, PHP, ASP.NET, and JavaServer Pages. Dreamweaver is a software that is used for designing, developing, and maintaining applications and websites. With its powerful features and enhanced functions, Adobe Dreamweaver is the perfect tool for web developers, web designers, coders, application developers, and visual designers. Adobe Dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG Presto-based editor, which means that users who are non-coders can use this program to create websites and web pages.

Features of Adobe Dreamweaver

The newest version of Adobe Dreamweaver is the Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, which features the Adobe Photoshop Smart Objects. With this feature, users can now insert any Adobe Photoshop PSD document in Dreamweaver and produce an image that is linked to the source file. They can also modify the source image and update the image in Dreamweaver without having to open Photoshop.

Dreamweaver CS4 has also improved its support for JavaScript core objects so that users can now write Javascript using Dreamweaver more efficiently. Various popular JavaScript frameworks such as Prototype, Spry, and jQuery can also be incorporated into Dreamweaver projects. Aside from that, users can also put dynamic data into their web pages without having to study databases or XML coding. Spry Data Sets can accept contents in a simple HTML table and recognize them as an interactive source of data. Users can also make use of the Live View feature, which lets them design web pages in real-world browser conditions while still having access to the code. When changes are done to the code, these are immediately reflected in the display.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 Review

With the new user interface of Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, users can now work faster because they can work across the components of Adobe Creative Suite with a shared user interface design. This means that it's easy to work on multiple programs just by toggling from one to another using the workspace switcher. This also enables users to import elements from one program in the suite to another.

With Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, creating web pages and designing them is now quicker and easier than ever. One doesn't need to have an expert's knowledge in coding just to create a website that's unique and impressive. Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 even offers the In Context Editing online service, which enables developers to allow their users to edit their web pages without help. Designers can state limitations regarding changes and cite which areas on the page can be edited to fit the users' needs and wants. With all the features packed in Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, it's no wonder why many developers and web designers are turning to this software for their creative needs. Teachers and students are even using these, too. Those who want to get more information about this product can always visit the official Adobe website.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 Review

The Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 is considered one of the top choices for professional web developers.  This web authoring tool offers a Live View that enables the web developer to see the source code and the resulting website side by side. There is something beneficial to all sorts of users, from beginning non-programmers to experienced web developers. Non-programmers are aided by the new Spry tools and experienced web developers can revel in the more efficient usage of some programming languages, such as JavaScript.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 is a revamped offering of the web authoring tool. This particular software has become known as the professional’s web authoring tool of choice. This may be because with the Dreamweaver, the web developer gets to see both the source code and the resulting web layout at a glance. Experienced web developers get to work with CSS, HTML or JavaScript faster. At the same time, new developers will be able to produce working websites with the help of a much improved property inspector. The Spry tools introduced in Dreamweaver CS3 are improved to further aid non-programmers. Web designers also get to easily make changes on their work without having to start from scratch with the help of InContext Editing, a web-based service.

The Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 has improved features that more experienced users will best appreciate. Those who have been using the CS3 beforehand will love the fact that the migration from the older version to the CS4 does not take long at all. The additional Live View is also very helpful to those who want to go through their projects fast and efficiently. There are some great new tools for both beginners and professionals in the CS4. For example, Spry tools should be a hit with non-programmers. However, most of the other new features will be more beneficial to users who do not depend on templates when creating their websites.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Review

The Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 provides a way for different users with various levels of web development experience to efficiently and easily design beautifully-interfaced sites. The software provides built-in support for ASP.NET, PHP and a multitude of other standard languages and formats.  This very feature allows various types of programmers to have easier access to the software’s capabilities. Dreamweaver CS3 also comes with full-scale CSS support. Photoshop enhanced pictures can easily be incorporated into Dreamweaver. There are also prebuilt dynamic widgets that can be easily used to enhance a website project. Because of the easy incorporation of Photoshop and the addition of several widgets, Dreamweaver has become even more user-friendly.

Again, the Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 is an improvement over its previous versions because it is now more packed with widgets. Photoshop is not only easily incorporated and comes with support from several languages and formats. There is some room for improvement, however, in terms of organization. The software can be a confusing maze to the new user. To get around easily, the user may need some hands-on training beforehand or may need to have experienced previous versions of the Dreamweaver. There is also a tendency for some significant errors to occur on the website even if there are only a few tweaks done during simple editing.

The Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 comes with both pros and cons, as is typical with any product. Previous Dreamweaver versions have already been hailed user-friendly but the CS3 further improves on this aspect by adding a few more widgets that can be easily incorporated. Even Photoshop-edited photos can also be easily uploaded to a Dreamweaver project. With those widgets and photos, a Dreamweaver-made website can be more fun and interactive. The CS3 user just needs to get familiarized with what at first may seem like a maze-like interface. He also has to be more careful with editing the project’s source code.

Adobe dreamweaver is a great software, period.

Purchasing dreamweaver for $399 might be costly but you need to ask yourself what you need it for. Is your goal only to make basic websites involving tables and perhabst for your own homepage and nothing commercial, look at a cheaper or even free html editor. I think it's possible to get a descent html editor for $50. But fact is Adobe Dreamveaver is not only a html editor but so much more. Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 has integrated cms support, so if you run your website with content management systems like joomla, wordpress and drupal go for it. It's so much easier and wasnt previously available.

Css have always been difficult for me to learn, but again with dreamweaver it makes the whole process easier and faster to some extent. The bigger your interest the easier it is to learn. You wont just catch css by using dreamweaver you need to read tutorials, test and compare.

You can also test browser compatibility with Adobe BrowserLab which is an online service by adobe.

The only downside is that the learning curve might be very individual, again depending on interest. That's the reason I gave it 3 for usability, can take quite some time to get hand on the features but when you do it should only be a big help.

I have used this software in the past, but only for school. Back in high school, I took a class for website design and this is the software we used.

I can't comment on the pricing, as I received this software for free. However, I would be very unlikely to pay $399 for this. It was somewhat hard for me to use, as I did not really have any background in CSS before using it. It was difficult, even when I was following step by step instructions, because I didn't really understand what I was really doing.

If you have experience with CSS/HTML and have an extra $399 or so dollars laying around, then give Dreamweaver a try! Otherwise, try a cheaper (or free) alternative!

The Dreamweaver CS5 is, as the earlier versions, not the easiest software to master, much more to understand and take in. I had to give quite some time to really get used to using it. As for the parts I like, I appreciate how Dreamweaver CS5 works well with Adobe applications so that designing and editing can be done quickly. Moreover, the workspace interface for this release has been tweaked so that it now can be customized by the user.

I, for one, am not really comfortable with using software that costs more than $100. With everything that can be downloaded for free nowadays, why invest in programs that cost more than $300 like the Adobe Dreamweaver, now on its C5 release.

A lot of people, particularly those who are just rookies in the world of web design will surely not appreciate the software price. Moreover, the coding may be a breeze for experts, but can look very foreign to newbies. The help sections and there are CSS/HTML tools can be helpful, though. Also, the spiffiness of the Dreamweaver’s interface is something I really appreciate.

I would say if you're new at html get something easier to use, otherwise adobe dreamweaver should be a big help getting things done.
