CorelCAD is a CAD Software for Windows and Mac OS X and created by Publisher Corel Corporation.
CorelCAD Summary
CorelCAD is a software that provides intelligent solution for a more precise and detailed work. It features DWG file support and CAD qualities with modifiable design tools that are compatible for both 3D and 2D designs. This brand new computer-aided design program is especially written for architects and engineers and many other enterprises that need cross-platform design solution.
Corel collaborated with Graebert GmbH, a long-established CAD developer, to create the software CorelCAD. This new offering from Corel allows users to control its simple interface. It also lets users to modify the tools without any programming knowledge required. The CorelCAD is perfectly compatible and works well with AutoCAD DWG format.
CorelCAD Features
The CorelCAD has a lot of features, yet it remains user-friendly, even for design beginners. It has the Native DWG file support, which lets users to open files and then edit and save them in an industry-grade CAD format. It offers 2D drafting that means working in an all-familiar environment, complete with tools and other features found in high-standard CAD program. Users are allowed to rotate, sweep, and strike between the entities, creating more solid objects.
Aside from the 2D capability, the CorelCAD also has design tools for 3D design, which are important for a more sophisticated modeling. The feature allows users to cut solid objects and intersect them. Users can also edit the facades, bodies and edges of solids in 3D. The VoiceNotes allows users to attach recorded messages such as instructions or reminders. Users can also utilize freehand sketches to mark their drawings for further annotations.
CorelCAD allows users to work swiftly on whatever platform they choose. The program is compatible for both Mac OS and Windows.
CorelCAD User Interface
The CorelCAD allows users to customize user interface according to their needs. Its simple drop and drag menu can be combined with multiple configurations depending on the user’s preferences. Commands that are used frequently can be renamed to help users speed up their tasks. Best of all, all of these are possible even if the users do not have programming knowledge.
For added features, there are enhancements available from the Corel plug in store. These add-ons allow users to make their tasks easier by automating or adding new features. Users can even create their own functions that help them extend their productivity.
CorelCAD Software Review
Although it looks like Graebert only rebranded its ARES program and united with Corel for marketing, the CorelCAD is not your good ol’ ARES. It offers a lot of features in a very easy to use interface. The CorelCAD is great as AutoCAD replacement. It doesn’t only allow 3D design; it is also good for 2D solid imaging. It can export files as CorelDRAW, but allows transfer for CorelDesigner as well. It has almost similar interface with AutoCAD, plus the same functions that users love with the latter. Compatible for Windows and OS, this software also allows saving and opening files in .dwg format.
This is great for professional and amateur graphic designers, plus it is much cheaper compared to AutoCAD. Aside from the features mentioned above, the CorelCAD also lets users customize the interface according to their preferences. Users can also rename tools for familiarity and ease of use. These additional features make the CorelCAD ideal for beginners; but don’t take it as an amateur program, the CorelCAD is an industrial-level software and is capable in doing all the jobs AutoCAD can do in less expensive price.
Overall, with its easy to use and customizable user interface, the built-in features plus the possible add-ons, the CorelCAD is simply one of the best computer-aided design software there is.
