Product summary of Adobe Acrobat X

Adobe Acrobat X refers to a family of computer programs that have been developed by Adobe Systems. Adobe Acrobat X programs were designed specifically for viewing, creating, managing, and manipulating files in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). This software comes in many versions, the latest of which have many additional features that make the software easier to use. Some Adobe Acrobat software even come as freeware like the Adobe Reader and can be downloaded from the official Adobe website. Adobe Acrobat X and Adobe Reader are being used by many professionals as a way to state information in a fixed layout resembling a paper publication. Flyers, newsletters, and other print documents that need to be distributed electronically are best created in Adobe Acrobat X. Adobe Acrobat X is great for both corporate and creative professionals. Those working in the fields of medicine, law, finance, advertising, publishing, and journalism can all benefit from using Adobe Acrobat.

Features of Adobe Acrobat X Pro

The latest software in the product family is Adobe Acrobat X, which was released on November 2010. This version of Adobe Acrobat X has more features than earlier versions. The Adobe Acrobat X Pro wraps animation and video into PDFs and even supports 3D images, features that will surely be useful for creative professionals. Users can even do geospatial mapping by importing geospatial files into the software. These geospatial files will retain the coordinates and metadata. Adobe Acrobat X Pro can also be used to enhance 256-bit encryption and improve form management. Adobe Acrobat X Pro even allows remote collaboration, which means that users can store documents online and work on the same file together in real-time.

With synchronized document views and chatboxes, users can now work together even if they aren't in the same room. One just needs to have the software as well as a computer with a working Internet connection in order to collaborate on a project that uses Adobe Acrobat X. With Adobe Acrobat X Pro, users can even customize their templates for branding and navigation, as well as compare and mark the disparities between different versions of a PDF file.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Review (July 2008)

The installation of Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 takes about 20 minutes on a computer with Windows XP, and the process is relatively smooth and easy. When installing the software, Adobe offers users with the choice of signing up for or opting out of its Product Improvement Program, which is meant to send anonymous information to the company regarding how the software is being used. This is meant to monitor the usage of the program so that the company will know how to improve it. The company promises the users anonymity, but those who don't want information about their work sent to Adobe can always choose not to participate in the program.

When it comes down to creating and manipulating PDF files, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 definitely counts as one of the most powerful programs available nowadays. It presents users with a wide variety of unique and valuable features that aren't available in other programs. Some say that this is to be expected, after all, Adobe brought the PDF format into existence.

This program is versatile and easy-to-use. I use it to mark up and edit PDF documents that go back and forth between myself and our clients prior to publication. There is also a feature that allows for combining multiple PDF documents into a single file. Even though the documents are sometimes large, the program merges them quickly and without errors or glitches. It was easy to install. I find myself choosing to make more PDF documents than I did previously, simply because use of the program is so straightforward.

I've used other software to create PDF files but nothing compares to the features and versatility to be found in Adobe Acrobat X. Yes, it's pricy, but if you want to create stunning, professional documents, this is the program you need.

I would probably be still content with my Open Office suite if I hadn't had the chance to work with the Adobe suite through my job. We use it to create professional flyers and brochures for our clients and nothing else can do what it can.

I use Acrobat X Pro at my office and I would say that its price is a bit steep and that’s why it’s mainly meant for enterprise users. But I would have to admit that no other software/tool comes anywhere close to Acrobat. Frankly speaking, there is not much of a difference between this version and the previous one.

Acrobat’s interface is cleaner and easy to use. The Action feature is a real time saver as you can train the program to perform a series of steps and it will automatically do it for you whenever you need it. Security has been a slight concern with pdf documents and Adobe seems to be working on this by releasing regular updates. Overall it’s a great product but it’s still a bit expensive for SOHO users.
